FamilyBeachSince he was first elected to the 13th Court of Appeals in 2010, Justice Greg Perkes has been a hard-working and fair judge for the citizens of the 20 counties served by the court.

A husband and father, Justice Perkes continues to be a business and civic leader in addition to his work as an appeals court judge.

The son of a well- known South Texas pharmacist, Greg was brought up with ideal that public service was a responsibility and learned early on the values of faith, family and hard work.

EagleScoutHe became one of the top newspaper carriers for the McAllen Monitor and at the age of 14 became an Eagle Scout and received the God and Country Award.

He attended the American Legion’s Boys State and was awarded the “Double Ruby” from the National Forensic League.

weddingAfter he graduated from McAllen High School, Greg attended the University of Texas and St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio.

As an adult, Greg continued his work with the Boy Scouts, serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster for more than 12 years where he received the Woodbadge Award. He is currently serving as a Unit Commissioner for the South Texas Council.

Today, Greg lives in Corpus Christi with his wife, Rachel Barchus Perkes. They are the parents of two grown sons, Andrew and Christopher.

familyHe remains active in the community as a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi and as a Corpus Christi Mustang. A member of the Rotary Club, Greg attends meetings of the civic club across the 20 counties in the district.

He is also a member of several chambers of commerce including Corpus Christi and McAllen and is a member of the Cameron County, Hidalgo County and Nueces County Bar Associations.

He has also served on the Board of Directors for several public and non-profit organizations.
